Aishwarya Rai Bachchan & Sonam Kapoor walking together at Cannes Red Carpet: The last time Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor were to walk the Cannes red carpet together, it had resulted in a much publicized “catfight,” but the two have made up since, and will be seen on the French Riviera this year along with another Indian beauty, Freida Pinto.
Rai-Bachchan, who will complete a decade of representing cosmetics giant L’Oreal at the prestigious film festival this year, said she was “happy” to have such beautiful company. “Several countries have always had more than one spokeswoman at Cannes and I am glad that India is finally getting the same recognition. I am happy that with Kapoor and Pinto, both beautiful women, being invited to the festival this year, India will have a stronger presence,” said the 37-year-old actress.
In 2009, just days after Kapoor announced that she will be walking the Cannes red carpet as a L’Oreal spokeswoman, the company had announced otherwise. It was reported that Rai-Bachchan was the force behind the decision and the younger actress had retaliated by calling the older actress an “aunty” in public. But the two have re-built the burnt bridges since and will walk the prestigious red carpet May 15.
