Popular character actor and villain Shakti Kapoor’s ouster from Bigg Boss 5 left everyone including host and actor Sanjay Dutt surprised. “No one, except me, had expected this to happen. I think I was a complete misfit on this show,” says Shakti, minutes after he was asked to leave the show.
Shakti admits that it began to go downhill from the very start. “I didn’t know I was being thrown in with a bunch of women, one of whom was even pregnant. It led to a lot of speculation, and increased expectations from the show, which is airing in a late night slot. Everyone thought I would flirt with some, be nasty with some, and probably even have an affair for public entertainment so that the show gets high ratings,” he reasons. “I disappointed the audience because not only was I well-behaved, I was also a cry baby who stared at his kids’ photos and shed tears.”
The actor, who has now learnt to sweep the floor, wash clothes as well as dishes, feels it was best for him to leave the house at this point. He adds that his purpose for accepting the show has been served: “My daughter (Shraddha) screamed at me, almost every other day because of my daily drinking habit. She thought I was unconcerned about our family,” explains Shakti, adding that when he came out of the House, he couldn’t even recall his wife’s phone number. “I decided to go on the show and prove to her that I can do without drinking and I love my family. I proved that in 15 days. After that, I was only trying to chill.”
Before exiting, Shakti’s invited all the contestants of the show for a get-together after the show wraps up in December-January. “I knew Pooja Bedi and Rageshwari from before. We bonded well inside. As of now, I can see Shraddha Sharma becoming a powerful contestant— akeli das ke barabar hai (She’s as good as 10 people put together).
And I like Siddharth Bhardwaj too,” says Shakti, adding, “But I think Amar’s game is up. Everyone knows his tricks now. I don’t know how far he’d go.”
