Actress Minissha Lamba is going to represent India at the Indian Independence Day parade in Los Angeles this year. The actress, who has worked in a slew of not-so-successful films in the past including Hum Tum Shabana and Bheja Fry 2, has been chosen to be the flag bearer at the festival.

In the past A-list celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have represented the country at the festival. This makes one wonder why the actress was chosen to be the Grand Marshall at the festival? Could it be a promotional event for her upcoming film Joker, where the actress plays a supporting role? “Minissha got an email from the organisers who wanted her to represent the country at the Independence Day parade,” says a source close to the actress, denying that it was a promotional tactic for Joker.
The actress was quoted saying, “Every year the atmosphere is charged with festivity and vibrancy of Indian culture, with many people waving the tricolour. It is the best parade I have seen, and I am so very excited about being a flag bearer and representing India at the Independence Day parade at Los Angeles.”
